THE SONG OF CREATION
3.14.08
There is a melody, as yet uncomposed
Whose resonance will reverberate throughout the world
It is a song that will herald the messiah
And will shake the foundations of creation
Forever since Time, the world has been hungering
For this tune, this niggun whose signature vibrates
With the soul of the universe, with God.
Since time immemorial we have been in constant search for those cadences
The harmonies that might inch us closer to the perfect pitch
The music of the spheres that will explode the existing order of things
Break the accepted hierarchies and sanities
Fracture the pecking order of the chosen and the damned.
We know when we are close
A particular rhythm or harmony grabs us in the chest
Moves us to tears, breaks the monotony of the day
But, as we get used to hearing time and again, we discard it
For history becomes the dumping ground for old melodies, yesterday's tune
For each song mirrors merely the state of being we reflect now
Like falling in love
Like a slow infatuation
A passing shadow of what might have been.
Genius in music knows of this phenomenon
And, besides the consumer driven musical industry
Resists the temptation of musical flirtation
Preferring instead a search for that elusive sequence
A string, a chord, a pitch, that mirrors the inner world of soul
The song of the messiah will be different
It will include all prior attempts-but transcend them
The combined history of all human frailty
All the failures betrayals, the tortures and the starvation
The children, unsuspecting
Towering infernos of smoke, spirits flying up in flames
How could there ever be a note of music written again?
This song will cause shockwaves through the heart of stone
Splintering it into fragments showering in all directions
Leaving only the crying song of birds.
Surely he cannot merely show up unannounced!
What an anathema!
No, like the foretaste before the banquet
The palate must be prepared
A heralding of the "good news" like yesteryear in biblical lands
For this he will need the niggun - the song of redemption.
A song fitting for the master Gardner
Who knows each blade of grass, each flower
Each one's needs, each one's pain
For he is the soul of souls who will come to heal
The pain and ineffable yearning for conclusion
Who will neutralize the hatred resentment, fear and self-destruction
By his harmonic power.
Uniting mankind in a song of harmony and reconciliation
The tune will be sung in all keys
All colors
Recognizing the all powerful spirit of the universe, the soul of the world
A song that reflects all the hopes from time eternal
A true composition for His majesty.
